It lays out the differences between pedagogy, andragogy and heutagogy. Heutagogy is a new term to me that I have just started to learn about from this course! This is described as the study of the self-directed learner. Many believe that heutagogy is a separate methodology from andragogy though some feel that it is an extension of andragogy.
My thoughts on this is that it is an extension of andragogy. There are similarities between the two – they are both independent and I feel andragogy will teach the adult learners how to be self-directed and self-managed – it will teach you how to learn, a fundamental skill to being self-directed.
What are your thoughts on andragogy vs. heutagogy?
