Web 2.0 Tools…Where have I been?

With this being the 3rd week of the 3240 course I have already learnt so much. The one thing that really got me thinking was when reading through all of the posts on the Web 2.0 tools forum. Where have I been?! I just learnt about this term “Web 2.0 tool” and I was a little perplexed when I was asked to go post a few resources. As I was reading through forum posts and searching for various tools, I realized that I do(did) know what these are I had just never heard the term before.

According to Wikipedia, “Web 2.0 describes World Wide Web sites that use technology beyond the static pages of earlier Web sites.” So essentially, what this technology does is provides different, sometimes “out of the box” ways to collaborate, organize and communicate with others through various websites. There are seemingly no limitations to the tools you can find through Web 2.0 and the way they can assist you in your every day, work or school life is endless!

The following website: https://web2012.discoveryeducation.com/web20tools-mobile.cfm is a great resource to so many web 2.0 tools that break down into presentation tools, video tools, mobile tools, community tools and related links. It gives you links to Web 2.0 tools that allow you to break out of the norm of PowerPoint or Skype and gives you the ability to explore other exciting and interactive options in your classroom. This site gears towards education and teaching so a lot of the options available are perfect for those of us who are attempting to deliver a message in a different but engaging way while staying on top of technology trends!
